The semiconductor giant forecast revenue growth of about 70% for fiscal 2028, reinforcing expectations that demand for AI computing infrastructure remains strong. It also expects to deploy two million additional GPUs with Amazon Web Services across 2027 and 2028.

The immediate market reaction was positive. Nvidia shares rose sharply after its results, while analysts noted that the company's growth forecast was substantially above consensus expectations. Reuters reported that Morgan Stanley's estimate was for growth of about 52%, compared with a consensus closer to 40%.

That divergence is important.

Nvidia is no longer merely outperforming a cautious market. It is increasingly being valued against expectations of extraordinary and sustained expansion.

The company has become the primary financial proxy for the AI infrastructure boom, meaning its results influence not only semiconductor valuations but also cloud providers, data-centre operators, memory manufacturers and software companies building around generative AI.

Yet the expansion is not without constraints.

Nvidia has warned that shortages of memory components could restrict how quickly the industry expands. Meanwhile, other technology companies are raising debt and equity to fund AI and cloud infrastructure, increasing the amount of capital being committed to the sector.

This creates a critical distinction between demand and returns.

Demand for computing may remain strong, but investors ultimately need evidence that the capital deployed across the AI ecosystem will generate sufficient economic returns to justify the spending.

Nvidia's proposed acquisition of Hugging Face for a reported $12.9 billion further illustrates the company's strategy of expanding beyond hardware into the wider AI ecosystem.

Aldrenor Assessment: Nvidia may continue to outperform expectations, but the market's central question is changing. The issue is no longer whether AI demand exists; it is whether the extraordinary growth being forecast can persist long enough to justify increasingly ambitious valuations.
